5 Ways to Boost Your Confidence
Let’s be real.
Everyone has those days where they just don’t feel good about themselves. For me, it could be due to comparison, binge eating during the weekend (can I get an amen?), or failure in my creative process. In these moments of self doubt, failure and criticism, we lose sight of our true identity. We forget that our beauty isn't defined by what we ate last night, how amazing that girl's Instagram feed is or if we decided to wear makeup today. We are all guilty of losing sight of the truth - I know I am.
With images filling the internet with flawless skin, perfectly placed hair, one "ideally" desired body type, and people that just seem to have it all together, we begin to evaluate ourself. We criticize our appearance, abilities, and dreams and measure ourselves against the standard of perfection displayed before our eyes daily. We have to remember that pictures represent a moment - often times a beautifully staged moment, and our life can't possibly be filled with perfection in every single breathe.
We have to choose to see the beauty in every moment.
Whether we are eating chocolate on the couch, processing a loss, strolling the aisles of the grocery store makeup free, or feeling our absolute best, we have to see the beauty in each. Because life isn't just limited to the aesthetic of your social media platforms, it's about stepping into your authenticity in order to live a fully confident, brave and unforgettable life. So how can we grab hold of our identity as beautiful human beings even when we aren’t feeling it? Here are some things I like to do.
How to Boost Your Confidence
1. Empowering Self Talk
It may sound cheesy, but it’s real, and it works. There are countless studies proving the power of positive self talk. Something happens in our brain when we state something positive about ourselves out loud. Over time, we actually begin to believe what we say. Be intentional about empowering yourself each day.

2. Choose Healthy, Whole Foods
This is by no means me telling you to go on a diet or to never eat what you love (because believe me, I am passionate about food). I have found that eating healthy, whole foods not only boosts my energy but also my self-confidence. Consuming healthy foods, for me, causes so many things to fall into place such as my gym schedule, feeling good in my clothes, and even sleeping better. Try to find that balance of eating healthy and also enjoying something you love once and a while.
3. Acknowledge Your Accomplishments
It’s important to inspire our present-selves with the achievements of our past-selves. At the beginning of every year, I make a list of goals and dreams. Some can be achieved within the year, and some are more of a long-term vision. It amazes me how many things I make progress towards or fully accomplish within the year. It is important to acknowledge our progress; We should celebrate all of our victories, big and small.
4. Get Active
Doing something active whether it is a trip to the gym, a walk in the park, a yoga session, or a leisurely stroll during your lunch break will largely benefit not only your health but also your confidence. Doing something active doesn’t have to mean going to the gym. Simply getting your body moving will do. On days when I have extra time, I love walking at a park because it gets my body moving and is a great time to reflect and admire earth's beauty.
5. Surround Yourself with Inspiring People
Our schedules get busy, we lose motivation, and sometimes we just get stuck. When insecurity creeps in, it’s important to spend time with close friends that will inspire and encourage us. Whether you need someone to confide in, simply be there, or make you laugh, be intentional about surrounding yourself with positive energy (always but especially when you’re feeling down). I would also suggest setting aside time to dream with close friends - create vision for the future, and share your goals!
