All Things Youtube, Self Love & Confidence with Chloé Brown
Chloé, tell us a little bit about yourself - weird quirks, hobbies, passions. Give us the full scoop!
Well my name is Chloé, and I love myself. Because of my past struggles, I am passionate about self love and self care. I have been married to an amazing man for 7 years who does nothing but encourages me to dream big and better myself everyday. I am also a mother to a miracle child and a sister to 5 wonderful humans. My faith is so important to me. I am a creative individual who loves going to Disneyland a little too much. I mean, I'm pretty cool.. I'd totally be my own friend.
What inspired you to start your Youtube channel? Has your vision morphed and changed since you started?
I started my YouTube channel because I LOVE YouTube. It’s literally all I watch! For years, I wanted to be a part of it.. After becoming a mom, I lost some of my own identity and creativity. I needed a creative outlet so I said heck with it! WHY NOT?!?! I honestly didn't care if anyone watched. I did it for me. In the beginning, I had no idea what I was doing.. I did tags, silly makeup tutorials and vlogs. Once people started subscribing, I would lie if I told you I didn't lose myself in the middle of it all. I am just now turning my YouTube channel back into what I want it to be. My focus now is short hair and makeup tutorials with the same silly ole me in the tutorials but I have also added in authentic, real videos on my past and the path to self love.
What do you love most about having a Youtube channel? What do you dislike the most?
I love sharing my creativity, story and my witty personality with the world. I also love showing that being vulnerable and real is one of the best things you can do for self love. I enjoy interacting and talking with people, and this platform is perfect for that. The things I dislike are minimal.. I only dislike people who steal my videos and repost them. You would think I would hate the negative comments, but I honestly just delete them and move on.
You talk a lot about inner beauty and self love. What caused you to place so much emphasis on this?
I place a lot of emphasis on beauty and self love because it is where I found the most freedom in my life. Before I found out how to love myself and truly believe in my beauty, I was lost in the dark cycle of self hate and doubt. I didn't have anyone encouraging me in that time and sought to YouTube for some help. I just hope to be that light for someone.
There are SO MANY Youtube accounts, and there are also so many focused on beauty. How do you stay in your lane and fight off competition and comparison?
I don’t do YoTube for notoriety... that might seem weird, but that’s not my heart. Like I said before, I do it for my own self care. I have been fortunate to have amazing followers that I call friends that watch my videos, but my goal was never to get famous by making beauty videos.
Most women battle negative feelings towards their bodies. After facing an eating disorder and overcoming it, what advice would you give to someone in a similar situation?
Oh man, first you’re not alone, and you should never feel alone. I have learned that most eating disorders are rooted in a deeper issue... that usually is control, body or self love issues. To overcome an eating disorder, you have to want help. That means not hiding your secrets and surrendering everything, and I mean everything. You also have to give yourself grace. Learning to love yourself and your body is a process.. it won't happen over night. Keep fighting for your health and never give up. You are worth it.
You are so hilarious on camera, and you’re not afraid to just be YOU. How did you step into this confidence? Any advice?
That silly side is what I need to get out.. It's who I wish I could be around friends. To be honest, I don't have many close friends so talking to a camera helps me connect in that way. I'll never feel "too much" in front of a camera that can't talk back hahaha. But all jokes aside, start being vulnerable and letting loose. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. Life is too short not to have fun. I make myself laugh more than anyone else can, and I enjoy that part of me.. I'm glad others find joy in my silliness too.
I love seeing you interact with your daughter. What are 3 things you love most about her?
Oh geez, thinking about her gets me choked up. She is a miracle. I love that she is so loving.. without a second thought, she loves me no matter how I feel or how I look.. She also knows her beauty, and she doesn't doubt her worth.. that encourages me. I love that she is curious. She asks a lot of questions, which I find so important. I love that she is strong willed.. She is really good about using her own voice, and I think that is something that will help her in the future. I could go on and on..
Lastly, how do you want to impact society? What change do you want to create in the world?
I want to help women believe in their beauty - inside and out. I want to encourage women to be vulnerable, real and know their self worth.
